Yukun Ba is an interdisciplinary graphic designer and artist from China

Yukun Ba is currently pursuing her MFA in Studio at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where she also earned her BFA in 2023. Her practice spans brand identity, data visualization, artist’s books, and ceramic sculpture, blending conceptual depth with visual clarity.

In 2022, Yukun was nominated for the Justyna Palka Memorial Scholarship. Her artist’s book Epitome was awarded the Graduate360 Top 100 Graduation Projects of 2023. In her final undergraduate semester, her design concept was selected by SAIC’s Visual Communication Design faculty to represent the 2023 VCD Annual Publication. The finished work earned an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Graphis New Talent Awards.

Yukun’s work often explores themes of memory, cultural identity, and perception. With a strong foundation in both traditional and digital media, she seeks to foster cross-cultural dialogue through thoughtful visual storytelling.
