Primordial Unity Relaxation Method
This method may be practiced sitting, standing, or lying down. When practiced as sleep cultivation, it is called "Primordial Unity Sleep Method."
- Practice while falling asleep at night, then gather Qi upon waking—transforming sleep itself into cultivation.
- If awakening at night, relax head-to-toe before rising; repeat when returning to sleep.
- Thus, cultivation permeates rest.
Posture
- Primordial Unity Sleep Posture:
- Lie supine, pillow adjusted for comfort.
- Soles touching, knees splayed outward (legs forming a circle).
- Hands overlapping on the navel. Remain tranquil and relaxed.
(Note: If posture shifts during sleep, readjust upon waking.)
Practice Sequence
- Raise overlapping hands along the body’s midline, resting them atop the head.
- Optional: Repeat to observe Qi’s internal movement.
- Silently chant “Xū” (虛, emptiness) 5–10 times.
- Key: Sense the sound resonating within the head to enter stillness.
- Relaxation Protocol (Conducted with faint, non-focused intent):
- Heavenly Gate (fontanelle) → Scalp → Yintang (between brows; gently expand) → Eyes → Nose → Mouth (tongue touching teeth) → Face → Ears → Neck → Chest/Back → Lungs → Heart/Vessels → Diaphragm → Stomach → Pancreas → Liver/Gallbladder → Spleen → Kidneys → Small Intestine → Large Intestine → Bladder → Reproductive Organs.
- Crucial Step: Contract Huiyin (perineum), lift gently to "seal the Sea Bottom" (energetic base).
- Shoulders/Arms → Palms → Legs → Soles → All Joints → Skin Pores.
- Affirmation: "Body-melt luminous, inner-outer unobstructed; Qi communes with spirit—Primordial Unity unfolds."
Repeat until sleep arises naturally.
At Dawn
- Awaken with "gathering Qi" intent. Retain stillness briefly.

- Sleep enters a half-aware state (心虛神靜 xīn xū shén jìng: mind-emptied, spirit-calm)—"still yet not empty, spirit retains subtle awareness."
- Upon waking: "Feel sleepless yet revitalized."

- Adaptation: Initial insomnia is normal; persistence brings mastery.
- Energetic Alchemy:
- Postures fortify Kidneys (仰卧还阳式 supine Yang-returning) and Spirit (混元卧 Primordial Unity posture).
- During "Living Zi Hour" (活子時, spontaneous Qi-surge):
- Do not let arousal become turbid essence (men) or leucorrhea (women).
- Apply "Inhale, Lift, Contract, Seal" (吸抵撮閉):
