What are the disadvantages of the consensus mechanism of public chains when dealing with quantum computing threats?
The public chain's fully decentralized consensus mechanism becomes a big problem when dealing with the threat of quantum computing. For example, it took 4 years for the Bitcoin network SegWit to upgrade to Taproot, and 7 years for Ethereum to transform to POS. Once the threat of quantum computing comes, the public chain community will argue endlessly over the technical route and may even lose the basic value storage function.
